1 Monday

Receive parcel and photos from Dugmores’ in which Ada sent me chicken.

sick from Monday to Thursday]

Our Guards billeted near us.


4 Thursday

Fouquieres.

Sick - off all duty.


5 Friday - 6 Saturday

Left Fouquières, marched 9 miles to Lestrem with Staffs Infantry Brigade, but we had to return, as our billets were still occupied by Indian troops under orders to leave the country for Balkans. We arrived back at our hospital Fouquières 8pm on the 5th, having marched 18 miles. Major Hodder now commanding the unit.


Memo: Colonel Dent returns to Wolverhampton to stay.


7 Sunday

Left Fouquières, marched again to Lestrem. Billeted in Barn C Sect. Collect from the line & A run the hospital (very quiet).


8 Monday

Lestrem.

Rest.

Heavy firing from our big guns.


9 Tuesday


Wet weather has prevailed the past month.


10 to 12 Wednesday

Lestrem.

Heavy firing from our guns.

13 Saturday

Went by Ambulance Waggons to a wood 12 miles away, in order to get brush wood to make stables for the winter.

Lestrem.

Went to Menice Forest for brush wood to make horse lines, a beautiful wood, covering vast area.


24 Wednesday

6.0am.

David goes up the line & is temporary att to Lincs.


25 Thursday

6.0am.

Lestrem.

Making horse lines at Transport.

Reveille 6.0am.

B Sect take over from A the hospital at Zelobes, I take over my duties as Clerk at 9.0am. 76 patients, plenty of Scabies.


29 Monday

Zelobes.

Billeted near hospital in room over Estaminet. Plenty of work on night duty. Daily state of sick to be made out to ADMS.


30 Tuesday

Zelobes.

Sleeping all day
